SUPERMINDS: NIETZSCHE - TO BE TWO

Photobucket
THE LOVERS by BLUEFOOTED

I'd first started this post Monday afternoon.
I wasn't sure it measured up to my criteria for a Nietzsche post,
so I scrapped it. Later on I watched Rosie O'Donell on Oprah
speaking about the split from her partner, and I took it as *a
reaffirmation from the world to do this blog post.
I decided to blog it on Friday, the day ruled by Venus,
the Goddess of Love. I still didn't do it, ..feeling uninspired
in how to present it. Late last night we caught an old forgettable
episode of The Cosby Show where Vanessa had gotten cold feet
and flirted with reneging in her engagement to Dabnis,
-her much older college professor!?
I felt finally, that I had been sufficiently inspired....

Photobucket
THEREFORE I WOULD HAVE THOSE WHO
ARE HONEST SAY TO EACH OTHER:

"We love each other, let us see to it that we remain in love.
Or shall our promise to one another be a mistake?"

"Let's give Us a probation and a little marriage.
For it is a big thing always to be two."

Thus I counsel all who are honest, and what would my love
for the Overman, and for all who shall yet to come, amount
to if I counseled and spoke differently?

To not to merely Reproduce, but to Produce, something higher;
-toward that, my brothers, the garden of marriage should help you.

FOOTNOTES:

*"People hardly ever realize that we can cut anything
from our lives, any time, just like that." He snapped his fingers.
"Do you think that one can stop smoking or drinking that easily?"
I asked. "Sure!" he said with great conviction.
"Smoking and drinking are nothing. Nothing at all
if we want to drop them."
At that very moment the water that was boiling
in the coffee percolator made a loud perking sound.
Hear that!" don Juan exclaimed with a shine in his eyes.
"The boiling water agrees with me." Then he added after a pause,
"A man can get agreements from everything around him."

TRON LEGACY

Tron Legacy is a forthcoming 2010 science fiction film.
It is a sequel to the 1982 film Tron.

According to a Disney press release, the storyline for the film is:
Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and gladiatorial games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidante (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

AVATAR IS NOW THE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE EVER MADE

By: Erik Davis on January 26, 2010 at 6:14PM
AvatarWe all knew it would happen eventually, we just didn't know when. Now we do. At some point over the weekend, Avatar surpassed Titanic's record-holding total of $1.242 billion dollars, and now it sits somewhere north of $1.292 billion – making it the highest grossing film of all time. The record it still hasn't set yet has to do with domestic grosses, though it's only about $50 million shy of Titanic's $600.8 million. So, congrats to all of you who made Avatar the biggest film of all time (in terms of box office draw)!
Then again, Avatar may have had it a bit easier with the inclusion of 3D and IMAX, both of which kick up the average ticket price by a few dollars. Plus, foreign markets like Russia and China (where Avatar is now the biggest grossing film of all time) were able to add more to that final total than they were able to back in 1997. In fact, Avatar has grossed a lot more from international audiences than it did here at home in the US.
When adjusted for inflation, though, Avatar does not hold the record for highest grossing film of all time. That honor goes to Gone with the Wind, which, according to the numbers, grossed $6 billion dollars. Yup. Seeing how much trouble it took Avatar to get to $1.2 billion, there's no way a film will beat Gone with the Wind anytime soon…unless James Cameron finds a way to drop us in Pandora (literally).

So, does Avatar deserve to be the highest grossing film of all time?
How many times did you see it?

* Once was enough.
Do you know how many things for
MECHALITH MILLENNIUM
I could have been doing in those 3 hours?!

ORDER ARRIVALS FOR THE WEEK (01.17.10 - 01.23.10)

Photobucket

For centuries the Chinese have consulted the I Ching both as an oracle and as a means of self-understanding.  The moral and psychological depth of its wisdom has been celebrated by its scholars, psychologists, poets, and scientists.  In this clear, immensely readable interpretation, Sam Reifler eliminates the obscure and dated references of previous translations to provide an accurate and accessible version of the ancient Chinese classic for the contemporary seeker.

For me, Sam Reifler's I Ching is the best in directly speaking
to questions involving love and/or relationship dyanmics.

Confessions of a Record Producer by Moses Avalon exposes the bad, the baddest , and the worst elements of the music business. This new, expanded version of the top-selling guide to the music 'biz is not about how the music business should work, but how it does work. Music Industry insider Moses Avalon tells it like it is – how producers dip into budgets, artists steal songs, lawyers write contracts in code – and shows you how to survive these and other career-stifling situations.

Avalon started in the business 15 years ago as a studio engineer and went on to produce records. He has also composed soundtracks for several independent films and now consults for artist managers, record labels, and investors. Avalon examines the various stages of the record deal. He explains the role of each person involved and suggests what that person's self-interest is. He also contrasts the differences among deals at the major labels, independents, and vanity labels, and he discusses "baby" deals between artists and production companies. Avalon's final cut is a medley of stories, rumors, and myths about ways people can be or have been "ripped-off." Though sometimes too blunt, Avalon provides a caveat that novices could miss out on elsewhere. -David Rouse

ORDER ARRIVALS FOR THE WEEK (01.10.10 - 01.16.10)

Photobucket

This book is about The Gods in Everyman, the innate patterns – or archetypes – that lie deep within the psyche, shaping men from within. These gods are powerful, invisible predispositions that affect personality, work, and relationships. The gods have to do with emotional intensity or distance, preferences for mental acuity, physical exertion, or esthetic sensibility, yearning for ecstatic merger or panoramic understanding, sense of time, and much more. Different archetypes are responsible for the diversity among, and complexity within, men and have much to do with the ease or difficulty with which men (and boys) can conform to expectations and at what cost to their deepest and most authentic selves.

Photobucket

Just as women used to be unconscious of the powerful effects that cultural stereotypes had on them, they may also be unconscious of powerful forces within them that influence what they do and how they feel, and which account for major differences among women. Psychoanalyst Jean Bolen believes that an understanding of these inner patterns and their interrelationships offers reassuring, true-to-life alternatives that take women far beyond such restrictive dichotomies as masculine/feminine, mother/lover, careerist/housewife. And she demonstrates how understanding them can provide the key to self-knowledge and wholeness. Dr. Bolen introduces these patterns in the guise of seven archetypal goddesses, or personality types, with whom all women will identify. Goddesses in Everywoman shows readers how to identify their ruling goddesses (from the autonomous Artemis and the cool Athena to the nurturing Demeter and the creative Aphrodite), how to decide which to cultivate and which to overcome, and how to tap the power of these enduring archetypes to become better "heroines" in their own life stories.

The Gods in Everyman was recapitulated,
meaning I owned it before in a previous personal library.
These two books are also the first psychology works I read in college.

Kevin Liles is the guy from Def Jam that most people don't recognize. Everyone knows Russell, most people know Rick Rubin. Kevin's one of the guys who came on board in the days when the company was transforming from start-up to big-time. He delivers a really simple message throughout Make It Happen... work harder than everyone else. That's the real gist of the 242 pages. There are chapters that have other themes, but the underlying cause of his success comes out in every section. Liles worked hard and was single-minded in the pursuit of his goals.

Photobucket

If you are bored with the classic iPhone/iPod earbuds, try this super luxurious Apple product diamond earbuds. They are no ordinary earbuds, they are the world’s most expensive ones for Apple products and with good reason too. They are beautifully decorated with round brilliant cut diamonds in micro-pave setting. They certainly look gorgeous without being too shiny. The white gold compliments the frosty diamonds nicely.

THE WEEKLY NIETZSCHE: HOW OVERMEN, OVERCOME THEMSELVES

Photobucket
"Forward, lamefoot!"
he shouted in an awe-inspiring voice.
"Forward, lazybones, smuggler, pale-face,
or I shall tickle you with my heel!

What are you doing here between towers?
The top of the tower is where you belong.
You ought to be locked up;
you block the way for one better than yourself."

And with every word he came closer and closer;
but when he was but one step behind,
the dreadful thing happened which made
every mouth dumb and every eye rigid:

he uttered a devilish cry
and jumped over the man
who stood in his way.

HOLD ME UP by YEAR OF THE RABBIT

...A beautiful simple song from my
iPod's January 2010 Playlist CD2 :

Photobucket
Year of the Rabbit is a rock band assembled and fronted by Ken Andrews, formerly of Failure and ON.

If I’m trying to be hidden,
You still see me.
If my faith has been turned into fear.
If my whole world is crashing,
It won’t matter.
I can keep it together if you’re here.
Cause you are the one
Who holds me up when I come down.
You are the one who I can trust.
You are the one
Who holds me up when I fall down.
You are the one who I can trust.
If my dreams start to crumble,
You won’t worry.
If my heart starts to sink into fear.
If my whole plan just shatters,
It won’t matter.
I can keep it together if you’re here.
You are the one I can trust.
You are the one I can trust.

People born in the Year of the Rabbit are articulate, talented, and ambitious. They are virtuous, reserved, and have excellent taste. Rabbit people are admired, trusted, and are often financially lucky.
They are clever at business and being conscientious, never back out of a contract. They would make good gamblers for they have the uncanny gift of choosing the right thing.

However, they seldom gamble, as they are conservative and wise.
They are most compatible with those born in the years of the Sheep, Pig, and Dog.
