AVATAR IS NOW THE HIGHEST GROSSING MOVIE EVER MADE

AvatarWe all knew it would happen eventually, we just didn't know when. Now we do. At some point over the weekend, Avatar surpassed Titanic's record-holding total of $1.242 billion dollars, and now it sits somewhere north of $1.292 billion – making it the highest grossing film of all time. The record it still hasn't set yet has to do with domestic grosses, though it's only about $50 million shy of Titanic's $600.8 million. So, congrats to all of you who made Avatar the biggest film of all time (in terms of box office draw)!
Then again, Avatar may have had it a bit easier with the inclusion of 3D and IMAX, both of which kick up the average ticket price by a few dollars. Plus, foreign markets like Russia and China (where Avatar is now the biggest grossing film of all time) were able to add more to that final total than they were able to back in 1997. In fact, Avatar has grossed a lot more from international audiences than it did here at home in the US.
When adjusted for inflation, though, Avatar does not hold the record for highest grossing film of all time. That honor goes to Gone with the Wind, which, according to the numbers, grossed $6 billion dollars. Yup. Seeing how much trouble it took Avatar to get to $1.2 billion, there's no way a film will beat Gone with the Wind anytime soon…unless James Cameron finds a way to drop us in Pandora (literally).

So, does Avatar deserve to be the highest grossing film of all time?
How many times did you see it?

* Once was enough.
Do you know how many things for
MECHALITH MILLENNIUM
I could have been doing in those 3 hours?!
