MY ARTIST DATE: NINJA ASSASSIN

 Photobucket

Photobucket

Raizo is a world's deadliest Special Forces Ninja Assassin. Orphaned as a child, he is raised by the Ozunu Clan (The Black Sand Clan), which is believed by the world to be a myth. When the only love he has known, Kiriko is executed by the Clan for betrayal, Raizo begins to harbor a resentment towards the Clan. When his first official mission is completed, he is told to execute one of his fellow members for the same reasons Kiriko was killed. He rebels against them, nearly dying in the process, and goes into hiding and seeking revenge on his former family. Meanwhile, Mika Coretti is a Europol agent who investigates money linked to a long line of political murders and finds that it traces back to the clan. She defies her superior, Ryan Maslow and uncovers agency files to find out more. The Ozunu, finding out about the investigation, attempts to assassinate her, but she is rescued by Raizo. Now being pursued in Berlin, Raizo and Mika must find a way to take down the Ozunu Clan permanently and stay alive from the shadowy warriors from which there is no place to hide.

LORD SHO KOSUGI: a Japanese martial artist with training in shinto-jinen style karate who gained popularity as an actor during the 1980s, usually playing a ninja.

So I have this rule about movies:

If there's no black people in the movie,
I don't rent it, buy it, or go to see it.

I'll buy a movie if there's at least 1 black person in a lead role; or, if there are no African-American actors, give me a Latino, Asian, or some other person of color that I can identify with. If it's an all white cast -forget it.
I don't finance a colorless world-view of things for nobody. That being said, if the movie falls into one of my interests, I don't care who's in the movie. What I'm talking about is funding a target audience for entertainment that does not included me -or those that look like me -or the larger community of people of color.

So I said all that to say, that if I knew that Naomie Harris
was the co-lead in Ninja Assassin, I would've been there opening day!
Are you kidding me? Ninjutsu! And Naomie as the co-lead!
And the asian hero in the movie isn't depicted in some culturally
typical and/or unempowered way. Hours before seeing it, I read that it was a Joel Silver & Wachowski Bros. production.
Now why is it that the Wachowski Brothers are
the only white guys in the film industry who consistently include
Black people prominently in their movies??
Let me tell ya this, ...they get MY money because they do.

When was the last time you saw a Black or Latino family
featured on the Learning Channel?
Are there no working class people of color with multiples???,
or Dwarfism??

On the evening that the first season's finale aired, legions of fans went to the NBC Web site to look for the diet and fitness plan that the contestants used. It wasn't available to the public-until now. With this book, people looking for change can accomplish the same type of radical makeover of their bodies, their health, and their lives that they saw on The Biggest Loser.

The book features the food and fitness plans from Bob and Jillian, health advice from the show's medical experts, and motivational tips from the contestants themselves. The contestants' compelling stories and reasons for losing weight, dramatic before-and-after photos, and real-life advice provide the inspiration and upbeat attitude that made this show a smash hit.

The DAILY NIETZSCHE: STAR FRIENDSHIP

Photobucket

At the end of the film, after the two have concluded their helping of each other, Nietzsche—played by Armand Assante—reads an alternate, and clearly non-Kaufmann translated, version of section 279 from The Gay Science before parting with Breuer as a friend, saying in his dialogue: "We were friends and have become strangers to each other. This is as it ought to be. We do not want either to conceal or obscure the fact as if we had to be ashamed of it. We are two ships, each of which has its goal and its course. And finally, Dr. Breuer, we have to become strangers to one another, because it's the law to which we are subject." The funny thing about this is, when Assante reads this out of the book, he has it opened up at the beginning (literally), while the section itself exists after the middle. I guess that's part of the fiction as well—that's what independent films and big production films have in common: mistakes. So, I'd like to produce here the complete version of section 279, just to show how much of this section was cut out.

Star friendship.— We were friends and have become estranged. But this was right, and we do not want to conceal and obscure it from ourselves as if we had reason to feel ashamed. We are two ships; each of which has its goal and course. Our paths may cross and we may celebrate a feast together, as we did—and then the good ships rested so quietly in one harbor and one sunshine that it may have looked as if they had reached their goal and as if they had one goal. But then the almighty force of our tasks drove us apart again into different seas and sunny zones, and perhaps we shall never see each other again; perhaps we shall meet again but fail to recognize each other: our exposure to different seas and suns has changed us. That we have to become estranged is the law above us; by the same token we should also become more venerable for each other—and the memory of our former friendship more sacred. There is probably a tremendous but invisible stellar orbit in which our very different ways and goals may be included as small parts of this path; let us rise up to this thought. But our life is too short and our power of vision too small for us to be more than friends in the sense of this sublime possibility. —Let us then believe in our star friendship even if we should be compelled to be earth enemies.

The DAILY NIETZSCHE: BECOME HARD

Photobucket

"Why so hard?" the kitchen coal once said to the diamond.
"After all, are we not close kin?"
Why so soft? O my brothers, thus I ask you:
are you not after all my brothers?
Why so soft, so pliant and yielding?
Why is there so much denial, self-denial, in your hearts?
So little destiny in your eyes?

And if you do not want to be destinies and inexorable ones,
how can you one day triumph with me?

And if your hardness does not wish to flash and cut through,
how can you one day create with me?

For all creators are hard.
Only the noblest is altogether hard.

And it must seem blessedness to you to impress your hand on
millennia as on wax.

Blessedness to write on the wall of millennia as on bronze
-harder than bronze, nobler than bronze.

This new tablet, O my brothers, I place over you: become hard!

Native American Animal Symbols

Beaver: Apr 20 – May 20
Take charge, adapt, overcome – this is the Beaver motto. Mostly business, the Beaver is gets the job at hand done with maximum efficiency and aplomb. Strategic, and cunning the Beaver is a force to be reckoned with in matters of business and combat. One might also think twice about engaging the Beaver in a match of wits – as his/her mental acuity is razor sharp... In a nurturing environment the Beaver can be compassionate, generous, helpful, and loyal.

Beaver Animal Totems Facilitate:
  • Clearer understanding of our subconscious thoughts and dreams
  • Ability to mold our thoughts more constructively to suit our needs
  • Determination to follow our dreams
  • Diligence to keep and reach our goals
  • Balance and flexibility concerning ourselves and our expectations
  • Take time for self, friends and family. The people in our lives are most precious
Call on the spirit of your beaver totem when you:
  • Need encouragement or inspiration in reaching your goals
  • When you've got the blues, and need a boost of energy (beaver is better than B-12!)
  • You're starting new creative projects or building new business deals
  • You're attending a family reunion or class reunion
  • You need a little more structure discipline in the family
  • You've want more clarity in dream interpretation or subconscious realms.

The DAILY NIETZSCHE: I TEACH YOU THE SUPERMAN

Photobucket
The Superman is constantly changing and in a state of rebirth and growth. He determines what is good and what is evil, not allowing religion or society to determine these things for him. The Superman finds his happiness in this way. He uses a reason that is independent of the modern values of society or religion. He determines his own values.

This creation of his own values gives him joy, and in order for the Superman to cope with a changing world, the Superman must constantly change. This constant state of change is a constant source of joy, leaving little or no room for suffering. Therefore, he makes the most out of this life, not depending on a reward in Heaven or a punishment in Hell for what he has done on Earth. The Superman does not pity or tolerate the weak. He feels that human compassion is the greatest weakness of all because it allows the weak to restrict the growth of the strong.

In Thus Spake Zarathustra, Nietzsche, through Zarathustra, says "I teach you the Overman. Man is something that shall be overcome [surpassed]. What have you done to overcome [surpass] him? All beings so far have created something beyond themselves; and do you want to be the ebb of this great flood and even go back to the beasts rather than overcome man? What is the ape to man? A laughingstock, a painful embarrassment. And man shall be just that for the Overman: a laughingstock or a painful embarrassment...

TIGER COMMENTS ON RECENT EVENTS

Photobucket

I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.

Although I am a well-known person and have made my career as a professional athlete, I have been dismayed to realize the full extent of what tabloid scrutiny really means. For the last week, my family and I have been hounded to expose intimate details of our personal lives. The stories in particular that physical violence played any role in the car accident were utterly false and malicious. Elin has always done more to support our family and shown more grace than anyone could possibly expect.

But no matter how intense curiosity about public figures can be, there is an important and deep principle at stake which is the right to some simple, human measure of privacy. I realize there are some who don't share my view on that. But for me, the virtue of privacy is one that must be protected in matters that are intimate and within one's own family. Personal sins should not require press releases and problems within a family shouldn't have to mean public confessions.
Whatever regrets I have about letting my family down have been shared with and felt by us alone. I have given this a lot of reflection and thought and I believe that there is a point at which I must stick to that principle even though it's difficult.

I will strive to be a better person and the husband and father that my family deserves. For all of those who have supported me over the years, I offer my profound apology.

-Now if Tiger can fuck up, you know I deserve some slack!

THE DAILY NIETZSCHE: THE SUPERMAN

THE OVERMAN...
Who has organized the chaos of his passions,
given style to his character, and become creative.
Aware of life's terrors, he affirms life without resentment.

Photobucket

The superman is someone who in discovering himself also discovers that it is in his best interests to reject any outside notions about values, trusting rather what he finds within himself. He creates his own good and evil, based on that which helps him to succeed or fail. In this way good is something which helps one to realize his potential and evil is whatever hampers or stands in the way of this effort. Since to Nietzsche everything in the world, including good and evil, is transitory everything is being continually reinvented.

The superman embraces this idea of change which to him appears evident, he understands the fact that since there is nothing in the world which is permanent whatever exists must eventually be overcome by something else which comes along. Seeing himself and his values in the same light he knows that these aspects must also be overcome by something stronger if not by him than by someone or something else. So in order to keep up with the times he continuously reinvents himself over and over always building something stronger, more powerful, on top of what went before. The superman therefore is the ideal of someone who has mastered the practice of overcoming himself.

The source of his strength lies in the cherishing of the same natural desires restricted in Christianity.

THESIS FOR WORLD'S RELIGIONS...

A common source of contention in all world’s religions, is the selfishly-centered concerns of the individual ego personality.

The ego, is a psychological component in everyone that functions as a sense of the self (me), separate from others, and is committed to the gratification of the personal concerns of the individual life.

Religion is always ultimately a call to life lead by a will or ideal, beyond our own.
All religious pursuit points to and is primarily concerned with transcendence, be it personal or impersonally.

It is a paradox that a sense of selfishness is a prerequisite for a successful religious and spiritual adherence.

Yet, I will show that it is this very egotistical component of the psyche that serves to undermine the best efforts of the God-seeker; and as the accuser (disobedience) in Judaism, Satan (sin/separation) in Christianity, Shaitan/Iblis (forgetfulness) in Islam, anarchy in Confucianism, pain in Hinduism, Mara (suffering) in Buddhism, and the failure to comprehend attunement/oneness in Taoism, it is nothing more than our very own externally projected ungratified egos …our common enemy from within.

THE DAILY NIETZSCHE: STYLE OF THE GREAT

Keeping our strength, our enthusiasm in harness.
Reverence for oneself; love of oneself;
unconditional freedom before oneself.

Well then! Such men alone are my readers,
my right readers, my predestined readers:
what matter the rest?

The rest - that is merely mankind.

THIRST DIRECTED BY PARK CHAN-WOOK

(I had Becca go get this movie for us from Blockbuster yesterday.
It's a Korean production, and I hadn't seen a good asian film in a good while now.)

This quirky little movie was full of humor
which kept it from taking itself so seriously;
and absurd to the point of being believable due to the two lead characters:
a totured asian catholic priest (!?)(appropriately),
and an adopted young girl with self esteem issues
who becomes an unfaithful wife (again appropriately),
and then a lillith as a vamp as a result of an illicit affair
with an older man -who's a priest, who accidently
becomes a vampire (appropriately again!).

It is un-apologetically illicit, and refuses to assert
how the characters should be,
while holding them accountable for how they have been.
This movie illustrates my whole experience in OR.,
and my relationship with "Janey".

Below is the movie poster and a few scenes from the film.

THE DAILY NIETZSCHE: THE POET'S LONGINGS

...like the eagle that gazes long,

Long with fixed eyes into abysses -his own abysses.
Oh, how they wind downward, lower and lower
and into ever deeper depths!

Then, suddenly, straight as sight in brandished flight,
Pounce(d) on lambs abruptly down, hot-hungry,
Lusting for lambs, hating all lamb souls,

Grimly hating whatever looks sheepish, lamb-eyed, curly-wooled,
Gray, with lambs and sheeps' goodwill.

Thus Eagle-like, Panther-like,
-Are the poet's longings.

Are your longings [hidden] under a thousand masks?...

My wisdom has long gathered like a cloud; it is becoming stiller and darker.
Thus does every wisdom that is yet to give birth to lightening bolts.

These I wish to blind. Lightning of my wisdom! put out their eyes!)
