THE PRINCE OF THE CITY
A New Super-Producer Rewrites the Rules of Krump,
Independent Film and Underground Jazz

Like an Odysseus returned, the Dallas born Texas Elite Krumper reintroduces himself as underground jazz god, independent film star, and dark horse media mogul.
Although he grew up in Pleasant Grove, Hero Mechalith spent his formative Young-Adult years journeying back and forth from The Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon (15 minutes from the California border), and the greater metropolitan-area of Portland, i.e. a Prince, taken from the Machiavellian term meaning ‘a new leader who emerges to rewrite the rules,’ from the Rose City.
It was upon returning to the DFW area that a chance encounter on the set of the TX21’s Danceclub 21 show that led to the professional formation and incorporation of the Texas Elite Krumpers, established in partnership with Fort-Worth native and dancer Al Watson, a colleague of So You Think You Can Dance Season 4 winner Josh Allen.
During a video taping of the group’s krump event Beyond Buckness, Hero met Frisco independent film-maker Josey Wells of Out of Body Films that led to a starring role in this years Drop Me Off, playing true to life music producer ‘DJ’ ,and as an avenging church pastor in 2009’s Footprints.
Having established his own multi-media production group while still living in Oregon, Hero was also eventually led back to his original musical roots in returning to Dallas. He says, “If it weren’t for my stepfather’s record collection -I would have been screwed. I grew up listening to the guy playing David Sanborn in the car; Bob James, Stanley Turrentine, and the most influential on me -The Crusaders.” The Houston-based trio that gave birth to jazz great Joe Sample. “On a family trip to Galveston around 13 or 14 I finally heard the music. I became a musician on that trip.”
Combining non-mainstream hip hop and smooth jazz funk, along with the ‘ampness’ or ‘buckness’ of Krump beats - Hero has created a thundering Underground Jazz sound whose boldness is only matched in forms of hardcore rap or heavy metal rock.
As the featured member of the Jazz Godz Vespertine, Hero Mechalith aka Underground Hero/Wrush Fury will release Prince Of The City online via iTunes, Amazon, and Tunecore and will feature the track on over twenty something MySpace, Facebook, Twitter Mechalith Millennium profiles as a maxi-single with the
Jazz Godz on Sept. 7th , and as a Solo vocal recording on Sept. 23rd.
