MECHALITH MILLENNIUM MEDIA: 8/29/2010 - 9/04/2010

Photobucket

ON THE DETOX HOLD-UP:
When you first announced Detox did you think it would take this long?
Absolutely not. I thought it would take at worst case a couple of years. For example, actual work time on The Chronic was nine months and actual work time on my last album, 2001, was about 10 months. The actual work time on this album is about half of that, where I’m seriously focusing on it. There is always something coming up. Like signing talent, old and new.

ON DEALING WITH MUSIC LEAKS:
So “Under Pressure” leaking was killer. It was a little bit more frustrating because at least “Crack a Bottle” had a hook on it. I wouldn’t be as mad at a leak if the song was done.
Can you blame the fans for wanting to hear something after all this time?
Absolutely not. I’m not mad at the fans. I’m mad at the person that leaked the shit. I have no idea how it got out. It’s not even worth looking to see who did it. It happens. The most painful part about it is that I’m passionate about what I do so people should hear it in the right form.

There were some other reference tracks that leaked with T.I. and Ludacris lyrics. Were those legit? Two of them were. Somebody actually hacked into our emails, so that made our red flags go up. We’re in a new age and that’s a sign: Wake up motherfucker. You have to be more careful with your shit. That’s all there is to it. I know what’s up now.

ON A COMING INSTRUMENTAL ALBUM:
You mentioned a hip-hop album without rapping. Will we ever hear a Dr. Dre instrumental album?
Oh yeah, that’s in the works. An instrumental album is something I’ve been wanting to do for a long time. I have the ideas for it. I want to call it
The Planets. I don’t even know if I should be saying this, but fuck it. [Laughs.] It’s just my interpretation of what each planet sounds like. I’m gonna go off on that. Just all instrumental. I’ve been studying the planets and learning the personalities of each planet. I’ve been doing this for about two years now just in my spare time so to speak. I wanna do it in surround sound. It’ll have to be in surround sound for Saturn to work.

Pick up VIBE’s August/September JUICE issue on August 16 for the full interview.

THE PRINCE OF THE CITY

Photobucket
THE PRINCE OF THE CITY
A New Super-Producer Rewrites the Rules of Krump,
Independent Film and Underground Jazz

Like an Odysseus returned, the Dallas born Texas Elite Krumper reintroduces himself as underground jazz god, independent film star, and dark horse media mogul.
Although he grew up in Pleasant Grove, Hero Mechalith spent his formative Young-Adult years journeying back and forth from The Rogue Valley of Southern Oregon (15 minutes from the California border), and the greater metropolitan-area of Portland, i.e. a Prince, taken from the Machiavellian term meaning ‘a new leader who emerges to rewrite the rules,’ from the Rose City.
It was upon returning to the DFW area that a chance encounter on the set of the TX21’s Danceclub 21 show that led to the professional formation and incorporation of the Texas Elite Krumpers, established in partnership with Fort-Worth native and dancer Al Watson, a colleague of So You Think You Can Dance Season 4 winner Josh Allen.
During a video taping of the group’s krump event Beyond Buckness, Hero met Frisco independent film-maker Josey Wells of Out of Body Films that led to a starring role in this years Drop Me Off, playing true to life music producer ‘DJ’ ,and as an avenging church pastor in 2009’s Footprints.
Having established his own multi-media production group while still living in Oregon, Hero was also eventually led back to his original musical roots in returning to Dallas. He says, “If it weren’t for my stepfather’s record collection -I would have been screwed. I grew up listening to the guy playing David Sanborn in the car; Bob James, Stanley Turrentine, and the most influential on me -The Crusaders.” The Houston-based trio that gave birth to jazz great Joe Sample. “On a family trip to Galveston around 13 or 14 I finally heard the music. I became a musician on that trip.”
Combining non-mainstream hip hop and smooth jazz funk, along with the ‘ampness’ or ‘buckness’ of Krump beats - Hero has created a thundering Underground Jazz sound whose boldness is only matched in forms of hardcore rap or heavy metal rock.
As the featured member of the Jazz Godz Vespertine, Hero Mechalith aka Underground Hero/Wrush Fury will release Prince Of The City online via iTunes, Amazon, and Tunecore and will feature the track on over twenty something MySpace, Facebook, Twitter Mechalith Millennium profiles as a maxi-single with the
Jazz Godz on Sept. 7th , and as a Solo vocal recording on Sept. 23rd.

GETT OFF CD MAXI-SINGLE RECAPITULATED
(THE SECOND TO THE LAST PRINCE SINGLE I EVER BOUGHT)
Photobucket
"Gett Off" evolved from several earlier compositions, starting with the song "Glam Slam" from 1988's Lovesexy. Prince created an unreleased remix in early 1991 called "Glam Slam '91", which used the chorus of "Glam Slam", but with new music and lyrics that borrowed partially from Graffiti Bridge's "Love Machine". Prince toyed with the song some more, adding a new chorus, and involving the newly-formed New Power Generation. The song was renamed "Gett Off", which was ironically very similar to a B-side/remix called "Get Off" from the maxi single release of "New Power Generation", also from Graffiti Bridge. "Gett Off" also uses a few musical segments from "Get Off". The new track features vocal contributions from Rosie Gaines and Tony M., and flute by long-time Prince associate Eric Leeds. Prince also adds a guitar solo. Prince delivered the song exclusively to nightclubs on his 33rd birthday, on a now very valuable 12" single featuring the otherwise unavailable "Gett Off (Damn Near 10 Minutes Mix)" remix. It was so well-received that Prince added it at the last minute to Diamonds and Pearls. The song was released as a single with the rap-pop number "Horny Pony" as its B-side, and also as a maxi-single with several remixes, which varied from country to country. It was #97 in VH1's 100 Greatest Songs of the 90's.

KNIGHT OF SWORDS: REVERSED

Photobucket
The reversed Knight of Swords can indicate that you need to be on your guard, particularly with people who are new. Someone may come into your life who is not trustworthy; they are not necessarily a thief in the literal sense, but could be a "thief" of energy, information, or ideas.

This is one reason WHY I forever outdo myself....
-EVERYBODY tries to do this in my life!!!
If you're not in my Life, believe me this the reason why.
I constantly prune the tree, for thieves.

VANTAGE POINT FOR CLARITY, aka SEEING SHIT RIGHT

FOR B.

Photobucket

"You don't see the world as it is, you see it as you are."
- THE TALMUD (mainstream Judaism)

This line from the Talmud aptly expresses why you need help to create accurate perceptions. If you can accurately perceive what's in your way on the way to what's possible, then you can get past obstacles and make the most of the opportunities they present. The challenge is to recognize the moment of conflict and then respond instead of react...

 1. ACKNOWLEDGE REALITY
Many people skillfully put off facing whatever's in their way--a bullying boss, a friend with an anger problem, an employee who's not up to his job description or role, a spouse who's insecure about their value in your life or the world, or a child with great potential but serious gaps in applying it. Start by facing things. This straight-on honesty, the spirit of confronting reality, is a hallmark of exceptionally successful people the world over.

2. RELEASE THE PAST
Practice setting aside hardened attitudes and releasing old patterns.

3. GO WITH WHAT'S DIFFERENT
Bypass the brain's embedded drive to solve new problems with old solutions--the habitual approach known as crystallized intelligence.
Shift into the higher level of functioning known as fluid intelligence,
when you are most open to, and skilled at, solving new problems with new solutions.

4. GUIDE YOUR FOCUS
If you allow your mind to focus on preventing a negative outcome instead of bringing about a positive one, your brain gets entrapped by the negative, making the bad outcome even more likely to occur.
The one and only time in his fifty-year career that the great high-wire athlete Karl Wallenda focused on where he didn't' want to go, he fell to his death. His wife recalled, "This was the only time he began worrying about, 'What if I fall?'"

GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY

 Photobucket
GET OUT OF YOUR OWN WAY
The 5 Keys to Surpassing Everyone's Expectations
Robert K. Cooper, PH.D.

Key 1 DIRECTION, Not Motion
It's not how busy you are or how fast you're moving,
it's how effectively you are advancing in the right direction.

Key 2 FOCUS, Not Time
It's not how well you plan your time, it's how effectively
you put your attention on what matters most...in advance
and as it unexpectedly appears.

Key 3 CAPACITY, Not Conformity
It's not how good you are at copying others or making
incremental improvements, it's how bold you are at
unlocking hidden potential--in yourself and others--
and applying it in new ways.

Key 4 ENERGY, Not Effort
It's not how hard you try or how long you work,
it's how effortlessly you get more of the right things done.

Key 5 IMPACT, Not Intentions
It's not how lofty your intentions are how much you want
things to improve, it's how measurable a difference you are
making in living your deepest values and achieving your deepest goals.

INVICTUS "UNCONQUERED" by WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY

Photobucket

Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gait,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Photobucket

At the age of 12, Henley fell victim to tuberculosis of the bone.
A few years later, the disease progressed to his foot,
and physicians announced that the only way to save his life
was to amputate directly below the knee.
It was amputated when he was 25.

In 1867, he successfully passed the Oxford local examination
as a senior student.
In 1875, he wrote the "Invictus" poem from a hospital bed.
Despite his disability, he survived with one foot intact and led an active life until his death at the age of 53.

Photobucket

In the 2009 movie Invictus produced and directed by Clint Eastwood, the poem is referenced several times. It becomes the central inspirational gift from Nelson Mandela, played by Morgan Freeman, to Springbok rugby team captain François Pienaar, played by Matt Damon, in advance of the post-apartheid Rugby World Cup hosted in 1995 by South Africa and won by the underdog Springboks. The poem is recited by the character Mandela as the character Pienaar and the team visits the Robben Island prison that held Nelson Mandela for 27 years, and Pienaar imagines Mandela and fellow prisoners as they had been there. The movie was based on the book Playing the Enemy: Nelson Mandela and the Game that Made a Nation by John Carlin.

In the next CNBC Original, Maria Bartiromo takes viewers Inside The Mind of Google for a rare look at the world's most powerful technology company and its crown jewel, the Google Internet search engine. This is the fascinating story of how two grad students, in barely a decade, took a one-time research project and turned it into a global technology powerhouse...changing the way we interact with information, the Internet, and each other. See how Google came to dominate the search industry and turn it into a profit machine... and see where it's taking its next step... and how the company plans to address arguably the biggest controversy in today's digital age: privacy.

GARY COLEMAN: February 8, 1968 – May 28, 2010

Photobucket
Former child star Gay Coleman passed away due to a brain hemorrhage.

In 1978, Gary Coleman burst into America's living rooms with his precocious performance as Arnold Jackson on the situation comedy "Diff'rent Strokes." His indignant catchphrase, "What you talkin' 'bout, Willis," was delivered by a chipmunk-cheeked boy who carried "Diff'rent Strokes" to high ratings, especially in its first few seasons.

But Mr. Coleman, who died Friday at age 42 after suffering a fall at his Santaquin, Utah, home, went on to become a poster child for the child-star gone astray. Finding only spotty work as an adult actor, he sued his parents, was arrested for assault, and squandered his savings.

Gossip columns couldn't get enough of his story line, and Mr. Coleman was always good for an outrageous quote, such as revealing that he had never been intimate with a woman before marrying at age 40. "I wasn't saving myself," he told Jet magazine in 2008.

Few seemed to notice that in interviews Mr. Coleman often stressed his desire to be taken seriously as an actor, to portray as he once put it, "a character with some teeth." But most of what came his way was retreads of his "Diff'rent Strokes" persona—short, comic, outrageous. Like many in Hollywood, his career became hostage to his notoriety.

"I have four strikes against me," he told People magazine in 1999. "I'm black, I'm short, I'm intelligent and I have a medical condition."

The medical condition helped make him famous. Adopted as an infant in Zion, Ill., he had a congenital kidney defect that led to two transplants by age 16. Drugs to combat rejection stunted his growth, and he had few friends. His mother, Edmonia Sue Coleman, a nurse, started "looking for things that might be fun for him."
She got him cast in a commercial for a Chicago bank, which brought him to the attention of sitcom maven Norman Lear. Mr. Lear at first cast Mr. Coleman as Stymie in a remake of "The Little Rascals," then in his own series. "Diff'rent Strokes" centered on two black brothers adopted by a wealthy white man. African-Americans injected into an otherwise white milieu was a popular television motif of the time, shared with shows such as "Webster," "Benson" and "Gimme a Break!"

Mr. Coleman was a sensation from the start in "Diff'rent Strokes." The Washington Post called him "a most unusual tot with a strikingly professional comic delivery." But in a follow-up feature, the Post depicted a temperamental star throwing tantrums on the set.

Getty Images
In a 1978 photo, Todd Bridges (left) and Gary Coleman flank Conrad Bain as they pose for a publicity photo for the NBC television series "Diff'rent Strokes."

Mr. Coleman seemed hardly to age over the life of the show, but when it ended in 1986 he was 18, and one of his first decisions as an adult was to sue his parents over their management of his salary. He eventually received a settlement, but his subsequent career couldn't support his free-spending ways. "I have lifestyle requirements," he explained in the 1999 People interview.
What became of his life was the stuff of tabloid stereotype, with the exception that substance abuse seemed not to play a role. Mr. Coleman seemed bedeviled by rage; more than once he was sentenced to anger-management classes.

After declaring bankruptcy in 1999, he found work as a security guard at a mall and at a shop dealing in his favorite hobby, model railroading. In 2000, he announced that he would run for U.S. Senate against Sen. Dianne Feinstein, though he never appeared on the ballot. In 2003, he actually did run for governor, garnering 12,683 votes in an election that brought a different Arnold to the California statehouse.
When he married in 2009, one wag noted that it was to a woman "almost half his age and almost twice his height." But the marriage proved rocky, and earlier this year Mr. Coleman pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic violence. The couple had previously appeared on the television show "Divorce Court."
Mr. Coleman's last role was in the film "Midgets vs. Mascots," a self-proclaimed "shockumentary" pitting small people against sports mascots. Mr. Coleman later said he regretted participating in it.

"I don't like it when small people are made fun of," he told Britain's Daily Mail.
