CE CE PENISTON: THOUGHT YA KNEW

A great dance album from a very underrated artist

One of the cutest, most likeable, and vocally talented dance divas ever, this second album from CeCe Peniston may not have spawned her biggest hit (Finally), but as a whole, it's definitely her most listenable album. Great throughout, best songs include "I'm Not Over You", "Hit By Love" (her most infectiously danceable thing after "Finally"), "Searchin", "I'm In The Mood", "Through Those Doors",.....

1. Searchin (9/10): This song is damn catchy.
Maybe it's the beat, maybe the vocals, but something about the song makes you want to listen to it over and over.

2. I'm In The Mood (East 87th St. Mix): (8/10): That's strange.
The remix of the song is here, but the original cut isn't. So I have nothing to compare it too.

3. Hit By Love (6/10): CeCe shows a return to form with this house classic!
The beats are thumpin and the bass is pumpin' just like a house track should. And it still could hold its own with the house records of today.

6. I'm Not Over You (8/10): This song is a lot like "Keep On Walkin'", which is probably why I like it so much.

8. Give What I'm Givin' (8/10): New Jack. Produced by Sir Jinx of the Lynch Mob, who produced Ice Cube's first post-NWA projects.

9. Through Those Doors (10/10): Ce Ce's swan song of the album.

10. Let My Love Surround You (7/10): Good beat, but the vocals and beat do seem slightly mismatched.
But her voice once again carries it.

HIDDEN BEACH RECORDINGS

Hidden Beach is an American independent record label specializing
in Urban Alternative, R&B, Soul, Inspirational and
Contemporary jazz music genres. Hidden Beach was formed in 1998
as the vision of its founder and Chief Executive Officer,
Steve McKeever and currently holds a distribution deal
with Universal Music Distribution Group.

Hidden Beach has four label imprints, which focus on
a different genre of music. -Hidden Beach is the primary label imprint and is used for R&B, neo-soul, jazz, instrumental and compilation releases.
 

THE CRUSADERS

The Crusaders are an American music group popular in the early 1970s known for their amalgamated jazz, pop and soul sound. Since 1961, more than forty albums have been credited to the group (some live and compilations), 19 of which were recorded under the name "The Jazz Crusaders" (1961–1970).


PAUL HARDCASTLE

Paul Hardcastle (born 10 December 1957, London, England)
is an English composer and musician, specializing in the synthesizer.

He achieved some acclaim for his early singles,
notably the Electro-funk Hip-Hop instrumental classic, "Rain Forest" (1984), but came to greater prominence in 1985. Hardcastle has also recorded several synth jazz albums, alternating releases under the artist names The Jazzmasters, and Paul Hardcastle.

He was one of the founding members of the Jazz Crusaders,

THE MAGICK OF SUPERIOR THINKING: GO SMALL YOU CRAWL

THE NUMBER ONE OBSTACLE ON THE ROAD TO HIGH LEVEL SUCCESS IS 

THE FEELING THAT MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENT IS BEYOND REACH. 

THIS ATTITUDE STEMS FROM MANY, MANY SUPPRESSIVE FORCES 

THAT DIRECT OUR THINKING TOWARD MEDIOCRE LEVELS. 

1. Be Environment-Conscious.

The body is, what the body is fed. The mind is, what the mind is fed.

What the environment is, ..you is.

*The I Ching teaches us that if we wish to gauge someone's character, we should notice what he nourishes in himself and in others. Those who cultivate inferior behaviors and relationships are inferior people; those who cultivate superior qualities in themselves and others are superior people. This is the test that we should apply to ourselves as well as others.

2. Make your Environment work for you, not against you.

A difficult environment must motivate you. An easy environment must challenge you. Leave a bad or non-productive environment.

*When the right connections with good, 

strong people have been found, a certain loss naturally ensues. 

But one must part company with with the inferior and the superficial. 

However, one will feel satisfied if one finds what one seeks and needs 

for self-development. One must remain firm, know what one wants, 

and not be lead astray by passing whims.

3. Don't let small-thinking people hold you back. 

Small people, don't think big. They're security-conscious.

Don't let suppressive forces--"can't-do-it-people"-influence your potential.

*If one clings to the weak, 

One loses the strong:

In friendships one must make a careful choice. 

One can surround oneself with either good or bad company. 

One cannot have both at once. If one throws oneself away on unworthy 

or untrustworthy friends, one loses connection with the good, 

strong people with whom the good in oneself is furthered.

4. Get your advice from successful people.

Never risk it with free-lance advisers. The majority of people are long on their idea of the way you should do something, but short on being an example of the way you should do something.

5. Get plenty of psychological sunshine.

The psyche that receives showers of sunshine,

grows like plants that produces fruit and flowers that bloom. 

The psyche that doesn't, ...doesn't. The mind that glows with a tan,

produces the kind of thinking that is as radiant as the body that glows with a tan. The mind that doesn't, ...doesn't.

Pastey-white thinking, is as attractive as Pastey-white thighs.

 

6. Throw thought-poison (and people) out of your environment.

Think about what you're really doing when you spend your time verbally

speaking against people, or other communities behind their back.

Your thought-poison will produce YOUR physical cancer....aids, diabetes, heart attack, obesity,...hell.

7. Go first class in everything you do.

Don't allow yourself to feel you can't afford to.

It's like an Eagle, settling for a Turkey's life!

Die a Lamb, or die a Lion.

The Japanese consider the KOI to be the most energetic of fishes.
This is because it is constantly moving, often churning up water.

The Koi is also able to fight the current of the water and swim upstream.

This can be interpreted in two ways:

1. Being a non-conformist – Koi swimming upstream can be interpreted as showing the philosophy of non-conformism because of the fact that the Koi does not “go with the flow”. This can mean a person is very independent minded and does not do things the way they are expected of him or her. Swimming upstream can mean that a person is not easily influenced by others and does what he or she wants.
2. Strength in time of adversity – Koi fish also symbolizes persistence and the willingness to go on even though you are being swept away. It also symbolizes surpassing expectations. The Koi fish swimming upriver can show that a person has overcome various obstacles and not only does he or she keep standing, but he or she has come out victorious.

THE 5TH OF MAY IS NOT MEXICO'S INDEPENDENCE DAY

It is a common misconception among the non-Mexican community in the United States to mistake Cinco de Mayo, or May 5th, with the Mexican Independence Day, which occurs on September 16th; Cinco de Mayo actually commemorates the victory of the Mexican Army over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla in 1862, during the French invasion of Mexico.   

Cinco de Mayo (Spanish for "fifth of May") is a voluntarily-observed holiday that commemorates the Mexican army's unlikely victory over French forces at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862, under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín. It is celebrated primarily in the state of Puebla and in the United States. 

While Cinco de Mayo has limited significance nationwide in Mexico, the date is observed in the United States and other locations around the world as a celebration of Mexican heritage and pride. Cinco de Mayo is not Mexico's Independence Day, the most important national patriotic holiday in Mexico.

The Grito de Dolores ("Cry of Dolores") was the battle cry of the Mexican War of Independence also known as El Grito de la Independencia ("Cry of Independence"), uttered on September 16, 1810 by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla, a Roman Catholic priest from the small town of Dolores, near Guanajuato.

Hidalgo and several criollos were involved in a planned revolt against the Spanish colonial government, and the plotters were betrayed. Fearing his arrest, Hidalgo commanded his brother Mauricio, as well as Ignacio Allende and Mariano Abasolo to go with a number of other armed men to make the sheriff release the pro-independence inmates there on the night of 15 September. They managed to set eighty free. Just before midnight on September 15, 1810, Hidalgo ordered the church bells to be rung and gathered his congregation. Flanked by Allende and Juan Aldama, he addressed the people in front of his church, encouraging them to revolt:

My children: a new dispensation comes to us today. Will you receive it? Will you free yourselves? Will you recover the lands stolen three hundred years ago from your forefathers by the hated Spaniards? We must act at once… Will you defend your religion and your rights as true patriots? Long live our Lady of Guadalupe! Death to bad government! Death to the gachupines!

This event has since assumed an almost mythic status. Since the late 19th century, Hidalgo y Costilla’s "cry of independence" has become emblematic of Mexican independence. Each year on the night of September 15, the President of Mexico rings the bell of the National Palace in Mexico City. He repeats a cry of patriotism (a Grito Mexicano) based upon the "Grito de Dolores" from the balcony of the palace to the assembled crowd in the Plaza de la Constitución, or Zócalo, one of the largest public plazas in the world.

This event draws up to half a million spectators. On the dawn of September 16, or Independence Day, the national military parade starts in the Zócalo, passes the Hidalgo Memorial and ends on the Paseo de la Reforma, Mexico City’s main boulevard.

The following day, September 16 is Independence Day in Mexico and is considered a patriotic holiday, or fiesta patria (literally, holiday of the fatherland).

...I Grew Up in TEXAS. 

 And, I grew up with our society, peddling Cinco De Mayo as Mexican Independence Day. 

 They taught this in school!!! (like how they teach Malcom X was a Black Panther in OR.)

 So, the moral of the story is: this country has made a national holiday out of  Indigenous Meso-Americans beating up the French, but not the revolt and insurrection against Spanish Colonial rule....that resulted in their subsequent liberation. Smacks of celebrating Martin Luther King's Birthday, minus Arizona, just not ON his birthday ;)

Other keywords and ideas believed associated with Aquarius are nonconformity, philanthropy, veracity, perseverance, mankind and irresolution.
